Providing Internal Scrutiny
TSO Education provides internal scrutiny to the academy sector only, and so our scope of work is tailored to the areas regularly highlighted in trust risk registers. We offer a bespoke service where we build the internal scrutiny around the areas you require. If we don’t already have a scope in place, we will write one.

The latest version of the Academy Trust Handbook includes an expectation that there is a clear separation between the provider of the EXTERNAL annual audit and the provider of INTERNAL scrutiny.
The Academies Finance Handbook states that:
‘All academy trusts must have a programme of internal scrutiny to provide independent assurance to the board that its financial and others controls, and risk management procedures, are operating effectively.’
TSO Education offer a range of levels of Internal Scrutiny from a full management level, which undertakes the complete function of managing the risk register and liaising with the Audit Committee, to supplying an auditor – a member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors – to undertake internal audit to your schedule.
